Sant Feliu de Guíxols Town Council and Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza are working together to extend the period of the temporary exhibitions at Carmen Thyssen Space up to eight months –it lasts now three months-.
On the one hand, a document to transfer the artworks is being written in order to turn into reality a new exhibition as soon as possible. This means this centre in the Costa Brava would be open a large part of the year.
On the other hand, a previous study on a plan to extend Carmen Thyssen Space is being draw up. This would involve important improvements in the Monastery building.
The Carmen Thyssen Space, which is found in the Baroque Abbot Palace in the Monastery, opened the Light Landscapes, Dreamy landscapes. From Gauguin to Delvaux, exhibition from the Carmen Thyssen Collection, in the summer of 2012. From then to the end of the present exhibition, 121.000 people would visit it. Almost a 17 percent of them are from the Barcelona-Paris-New York. From Urgell to O’Keeffe, which ends on October 18th.
